RESTLESS MIND
Final Degree Project
Through the use of surrealistic contemporary art, my practice presents the eye as a depiction of the unpleasant feelings that anxiety concocts. The eye is applied as it is certainly capable of being presented in such a disturbing manner, as other surrealists did in their work.

The altered visuals contribute to the production of a psychedelic-like effect capable of properly conveying anxiety in a chaotic and captivating manner for my project. This is accomplished by duplicating, mirroring, blending, and saturating pictures of the eye in order to create compositions that appear to exist outside of reality, and which occupy the mind of an anxious individual.

Exploring the psychological states of the mind through surrealism, as well as the use of the eye, enables a better understanding of a restless mindset as it operates in its own space, separate from the real world. My final compositions, which are presented inside a box filled with mirrors, successfully create this illusion.
My primary goal with this body of work is to elicit both uncomfortable and surprising emotions in the audience as they encounter this secluded and psychedelic environment.
